How do I take care of my FitFlop sandals?
Classic Walkstar, Walkstar 3, Electra, Pietra, and Dass
To clean the footbed of your FitFlop sandals, wet the midsole, and scrub in circles (try using a handful of non-bleach laundry powder and an old toothbrush).
Do not put your FitFlop sandals in the washing machine or dryer and do not submerge them in water.
If your upper straps are made from patent leather, wipe them with a damp cloth or special patent spray cleaner.
If your upper straps are made from softy or napa leather, we would only recommend using a special leather cleaner. If your upper straps are made from suede or nubuck leather, treat them with a suede/nubuck cleaner.
Oasis
The upper straps of the Oasis sandal are made of suede. If they get dirty, treat them with suede cleaner.
To clean the midsole, wet it and scrub in circles using a handful of non-bleach laundry powder and an old toothbrush.
Do not put your FitFlop sandals in the washing machine, and, as with any suede footwear, try not to get them wet.
How do I take care of my Winter FitFlop footwear?
Mukluk and Inuk
Designed so that they can be worn barefoot, these FitFlop boots are made with Grade-A sheepskin, which is extremely dense, durable, soft and warm. They breathe naturally, wick away moisture and allow air to circulate inside.
FitFlop boots are treated with AgionTM anti-bacterial technology to keep them fresh underfoot. Sheepskin is naturally thermostatic, and keeps bare feet close to natural body temperature regardless of the temperature outside.
FitFlop sheepskin boots have been treated with a water resistant finish, however if your boots get wet, let them dry naturally for at least 24 hours. Do not dry in direct heat or sunlight. Once dry, lightly brush with a very soft suede/nubuck brush in one direction only. If your FitFlop sheepskin boots get dirty, treat them with a sheepskin cleaner and conditioner. DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE WASHING MACHINE.
Gogh and Gogh II
In the event that your Gogh clogs do become damp, just dry them in a warm airy area avoiding direct sunlight. (As with all natural products, sun can cause colour fading.) Stuffing your Gogh clogs with paper towels while they are drying will help them maintain their shape and keep that ‘brand new’ look.
FitFlop Goghs can be worn with or without socks, but we recommend that you wear them with woollen socks to keep the insides fresh and dry. We do not recommend machine washing or drying for your Goghs. Instead, lightly brush the outside to remove dirt, mud or salt stains.
Ultra-Lounge
Fabrication: 100% suede, 12mm shearling lining, EVA MicrowobbleboardTM mid-sole, all rubber out-sole.
If your Ultra-Lounge Slippers become wet, do not dry them in direct heat or sunlight. Let them dry naturally for at least 24 hours and once dry, brush them lightly in one direction with a soft suede brush.
If your Ultra-Lounge slippers get dirty, treat them with suede cleaner. DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE WASHING MACHINE. Note: Suede is a natural product and when dyed, some colour transfer may occur.
Snugger
Fabrication: Synthetic textile upper, faux fur lining, EVA MicrowobbleboardTM mid-sole, all rubber out-sole.
If your Snugger Snow Boots get dirty, simply wipe them clean with a damp cloth and leave them to dry naturally, out of direct sunlight.
DO NOT PUT THEM IN A WASHING MACHINE. It’s also treated with AgionTM anti-bacterial technology to prevent odour underfoot.
Fitflop Questions & Answers
FitFlop. Get a workout while you walk™
Q. Can I wear FitFlop footwear during pregnancy?
A. As with any medical condition, we recommend that any prospective FitFlop wearer consult their doctor before putting a pair of FitFlop footwear into regular rotation. While Dr David Cook (who helped engineer the FitFlop’s multi-density microwobbleboardTM midsole) originally recommended that - due to the inherent increased muscle load - FitFlop footwear not be worn during pregnancy, we’ve had several women report that wearing FitFlop sandals during pregnancy has provided fantastic relief from lower leg swelling, varicose vein pain, and even Symphisis Pubic Dysfunction. We’d suggest you consult your obstetrician to ensure you have his/her OK before wearing a pair.
Q. I normally wear orthotics. Can I wear FitFlop sandals?
A. The FitFlop footwear has been designed with a regularly shaped footed, however, the multi-density midsole create a microwobbleboardTM action that challenges the muscles of the foot and arch, and therefore might not be suitable for everyone who needs orthotics. We recommend that you err on the side of caution and consult your podiatrist prior to wearing FitFlop footwear if you currently rely on orthotic support.
Q. Can I jog/work out/cycle in FitFlop sandals?
A. FitFlop footwear is originally biomechanically engineered to load your leg muscle more when you WALK (not while you jog, hike, or cycle). Which is why we recommend getting ‘a workout while you walk’. At present, we can’t officially suggest you make any other use of your pair but just that. A FitFlop sandal doesn’t have a heel counter to keep it from falling off during any form of running or sprinting, nor is it covered enough to protect your feet from brush or falling rocks if you might be hiking. These shoes were made for walking.
Q. I am very overweight, can I still wear FitFlop footwear?
A. FitFlop sandals are generous fitting, with relatively wide footbeds and strong upper straps, however, they are designed- as are most shoes- for people of average weight. (We have not tested our microwobbleboardTM technology for efficacy on overweight populations, nor on the underweight, in fact, so can’t confirm that your FitFlop footwear would have the same muscle-toning effect.) However, we have received many testimonials from people who had gained weight for one reason or another, and whose back, knees and ankles were buckling under the strain, making it difficult and uncomfortable to walk for long periods of time. With a pair of FitFlop sandals on, the same people seemed to have experienced less lower back, ankle and knee pain, and suddenly been able to get up and walk for progressively longer periods each day WITHOUT any discomfort. In fact, several have gone on to lose several kilos in weight, simply from being more mobile, and more comfortable in their own bodies, most probably because FitFlop footwear helps to realign vertical force traveling through your feet on heel strike, toward the center of the pelvic girdle and behind the knee, where it causes less lower back and joint strain. We’d suggest that if you are overweight, you start with our original Walkstar sandal. It’s got a very flexible (but strong) upper, and most feet fit into it! Please let us know how you get on, and write back to us when you’ve lost your first 5 (then 10, then 20 kilos!). Good luck with your weight loss!
Q. I have bunions will they be aggravated?
A. No. In fact, if you suffer from bunions, we’d suggest ordering a few pairs of FitFlop sandals for yourself, as we’re going to guess that you may never want to put normal shoes (that rub on your bunions) on your feet again.
Q. Are FitFlop sandals suitable for a wide fit?
A. Yes most of our footwear is suitable for a wide foot. Because the FitFlop’s foot bed is slightly wider than average, they fit pretty much every foot in width. If you have an extremely high instep, you may have to go up a size initially, or spend a few days wearing in the midsole, which custom moulds and compresses to fit your instep height after a couple of days of intensive use. If you have a narrow foot or a low instep we recommend you go down a size if between sizes. Please note that the Pietra is built on a slimmed-width version of our muscle-toning Microwobbleboard™ midsole, perfect for those with slightly narrow feet.
Q. If I am a half size should I go up or down in my FitFlop sandals?
A. FitFlop sandals have been designed to fit a standard-width UK foot and are graded in the traditional way. The webbing is designed to hold the foot quite high up across the instep and will not stretch over time. Thus, FitFlop fit is a function of arch height and instep height. Our experience so far has shown that Europeans have a slightly higher instep height and tend to need to size up whereas Americans have a lower instep height and need to size down. The length of the sole is quite generous so going half a size down should not cause a length issue.
Fitflop Sizing Advice
FitFlop. Get a workout while you walk™
Not sure which size you need?
Ordering online? Unsure about our sizes? Print out our FitFlop sandal sizer chart to ensure a perfect fit.
- Click to view the appropriate chart below (you may need to install Adobe Acrobat Reader first) and select ‘Print’
- When the printer window pops up, make sure Page Scaling is set to ‘none’
- Print your sizer out, and double check the scale using a ruler. (If your sizer is a few milimeters off, read all of point 2 above.)
- Place you heel on the line indicated, and choose your size accordingly along your toes.
Instep sizing information
Fitflop footwear only comes in whole sizes.
If your feet fall somewhere between, opt up a size if you have wide feet or a high instep, and down if you have narrow feet or a low instep.
In the US, most people size down to the nearest whole size. In the rest of the world, people generally size up.
The upper bands on the FitFlop sandals do NOT stretch. In our sheepskin boots, expect the FitFlop FREEFOOT fit, in which your forefoot and toes will be held quite snugly (as they are in our sandals), but your heel will be looser behind to allow optimal biomechanically advantageous movement. You might think of it as heel slip, but in fact, it’s heel FREEDOM! (As long as they don’t rub you the wrong way, the fit is right.)

I tried fitflops last year, so am a true addict. I really like the new style fitflop electra, much prefer the smaller sequins. I really do believe that these fitflops have helped to reduce my cellulite - that and body brushing. Would highly recommend these to anyone who needs a bit of help toning!

I treated myself to a pair of FitFlop sandals last summer to help ease my lower back pain and stiffness plus improve fitness. They were fantastic and I couldn’t take them off. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford the boots this winter and have really noticed the stiffness return to my back. Roll on spring so i can wear my FitFlop sandals again and this year i am certainly saving up for the boots.

I have a few styles of FitFlop footwear they are the only shoes I can walk any distance in. What did I do before I discovered them, I don’t know. I have told so many people how wonderful they are.

I bought these boots and they are never off my feet, I love them. I suffer from MS so my balance is bad but these boots are fantastic no more sore feet x jacqui tuszynski, wilstone I have very bad arthritis and am awaiting knee replacements. I have not found a boot until now where I can walk without pain. I wear my mukluk boots all day every day and would recommend these to everyone. Well done to the designers and makers of these boots.

I recently got my bronze Electra and I’m currently loving it! I wear it everyday at work. It’s very comfy & dressy enough for a day in the office. Summer’s coming up, so this would be perfect for those summer trips that requires long walks

Love, love, love my FitFlop Walkstar, Gogh & Mukluk ….. Another Morton’s Neuroma sufferer who decided not to have the operation (thankfully by look of some of the other reviews) and have no pain at all. Could you think about a trainer style so that I can go back to fitness training!! Have also got my 70 years young mum in Mukluk this winter - she swears by them too!

I have never had my fitflops off. I twisted my ankle in March and still have issues with high heels but who needs high heels with these fitflops. Delivery was excellent too ..super fast. I live in Portugal but I got them in 3 days!

I now have three pairs of Fitflops - These new electra FitFlop ones have all the attributes of the earlier walkstar fitflops, wonderful for worn-out knees like mine - comfort in every step - and although I can't be sure yet, they certainly feel as if they are toning up my bum and legs... but these are just GORGEOUS. The photos do not do justice to these glamorous, sparkly Fitflops - they take it to a whole new level. (Take it from me - even if you have NEVER painted your toenails..... you will want to do it now.) I love these fitflops so much I may have to have them surgically removed!!! I would also like to add that the service from Shoe Envy is excellent - they were delivered within 48 hours, in spite of my being advised of a 3-5 day slot. Absolutely '10 out of 10' for both Fitflops and service. So why are you waiting??
